Starting Jan. 5, 2009, I'm going to do this weight challenge that my friend came up with. Everyone knows I need major help in this department SO I figure if I tell the blogging world maybe I'll be more motivated. So here it goes. I'm not going to say how much I want to lose, but will keep you posted in how much I lose if any--I am a slow weight loss loser. Anyways, here it goes.
So here is the details of the next challenge.Points - 12 points possible per day for 6 weeks.
1 Reporting/Accountability point just for reporting your points each day.
1 Water - drink at least 8 - 8oz cups of water everyday, more if you can!
1 Supplements/Vitamins - take a good supplement, even a multivitamin is better than nothing.
1 No Skipping Meals- NO SKIPPING MEALS OR SNACKS!!! You should be eating every 2-3 hours! Plan ahead. Have some healthy snacks in your purse or in the car.
1 Whole Grains - No white flour, white pasta, white rice, etc. There are now tons of 100% Whole Grain products in the grocery stores
1 No sugar/junk food - No white refined sugar, cookies, cakes, candies, ice cream, chocolate, etc. (some things do have sugar in them like breads and whole grain cereals and those are fine - the grams of sugar per serving should be less than 5 grams unless it contains dried fruit like raisins)
1 3-hour rule - Don't eat for at least 3 hours before you go to bed.
1 Counting Calories - It is amazing how fast calories add up. Pick up a kitchen scale and monitor your portion size. Use myfitnesspal or some other way to track the calories you consume each day. The minimum calories you consume should be 1200 per day, the maximum varies depending on how much weight you need to lose, your current weight and the amount you exercise each day. Even if you go over your daily amount you can still get this point if you are tracking your calories.
Workout Points: up to 4 per day
Low intensity (walking) exercise 30 minutes = 1 point
Moderate intensity (jogging) exercise 20 minutes = 1 point
High intensity exercise (running) 15 minutes = 1 point
Give yourself up to 4 points per day based on how long you exercise and at what level your perceived level of exertion is.
The exercise part generally wouldn't be hard, but due to still being in a black boot, the exercise part is going to be difficult. I figure anything is better than nothing. My biggest challenge is going to be the no junk/no sugar/etc. rule. I LOVE chocolate way to much. Why is it that I always want a 'TREAT'. Well, hopefully this will help that problem---Off to a NEW YEAR!!!!!

Christmas....
I just thought I would write a few words about Christmas. Christmas was amazing. We always do the Nativity with the kids on Christmas eve. They look so cute all dressed up. My dad reads it and my mom dresses up all the kids. The adults are usually the animals. I always like starting Christmas Eve off with the Nativity so the kids remember why we have Christmas. We've been really trying to focus more on "His presence" then the presents. I HOPE the kids understand.
Then the kids always get pjs and slippers for christmas eve. It's always fun to go to bed in new pj's. Sometimes we get them, and sometimes grandparents get them (like this year). This year was amazing because there were/are so many generious people willing to help. Due to all the chaos in our home right now, life has been interesting. There have been so many people (that we DON'T know who you are) that have made this a very special christmas. My kids LOVED when santa showed up at the door on Christmas Eve. That was just one of the very many kind acts.
Christmas day we stay home in the morning. We were going to go to my brother's in the afternoon, but due to the weather, Erik not feeling well, and me still being in my pj's we didn't make it. We just stayed home and played. It was great:) Not very many times do we ever just stay home and veg! The kids have had a great time playing with all their new stuff. My girls wanted American Dolls for Christmas (especially Witnee). She is such a little mommy. They got pretend American dolls and are ecstatic. She takes it every were she goes. The kids had a wonderful christmas day and received enough presents to keep them busy for awhile. I'm greatful for this time off school to spend time with them playing games, building legos, baking, combing dolls hair, etc. I don't take enough time to just sit down with them during the school weeks with everything going on. I've realized that I really need to do a better job of this. AND so I will try to do better:) I think the kids really enjoy not being on a schedule as well. Anyways, it's been great and we are loving the snow (even though I can't do much). After the holidays are over, I will hit the diet hard. Ugh!!!!!!oh well. Happy Holidays.

Holy Snow.....
We had our school programs last week. They are so much fun. The kids get so excited. Kiersten's preschool is amazing. For the 4-5 yr olds, they do karate and then the music portion. They teach the kids sign language to Silent Night for all the verses. It brings a tear to my eye everytime. Kiersten knew every sign and was so serious. Witnee's class did their program in the gym. She thought she needed to wear a christmas dress, so I let her. She loves to be dressed up (so girl). She also is so serious while performing. NO goofing off at the Roth house! Trevyn's class I didn't get any good pictures, but it was really cute because his teacher has the class write a play and perform it. They kids have to write the parts and everything. Then at the end they do some music (not his favorite thing). He did really good. His teacher is amazing, as are all of the kids teachers. We really lucked out this year with their teachers.
We also have been getting dumped on with snow. I love it. The kids have been playing for hours out in it. Perfect time since the kids are out of school. Merry Christmas.

Crazy December.....
These last few weeks have been crazy. We put our decorations up the weekend of Thanksgiving and then it is my son's birthday the next week. I love this time of year, but life does get crazy. Trevyn turned 8 on Friday. I can't believe how time flies. It seems like I just had him yesterday. He is such a great kid. He is obedient, fun, a great big brother. He is such a joy to have in our family. I am so proud that he got baptized. He got baptized on Saturday, Dec. 6. It was a great day. He looked so handsome in his suit. He looked like a little missionary. For the musical number during his baptism, Trevyn wanted his sisters and cousins to sing "Called to Serve" and "I am a Child of God". They did SO good. They were even on the right key. I was very impressed. I could tell they were doing good because I was playing the piano and as I looked out there were tears in everyone's eyes. It was a really nice day. Our families came to support us and we really appreciate it. (Sorry these pictures aren't in order. I haven't figured it out yet!)

Christmas Spirit....
Erik and I went to the production "Saviour of the World" at the conference center in November, and then us, Lela, and the kids went to Michael McLean Forgotten Carols last night. The kids really enjoyed it and actually paid attention. Why is it that you can take everyone to the bathroom before the show and inevitably someone has to go to the bathroom during the show?!
Oh well! My girls LOVE music, so they loved whenever someone was singing. It really gets you in the Christmas spirit. I love all the holidays. I love being with family, making goodies, taking more time out to spend with my kids, and the over all feeling you get with the holidays. Both of these productions really bring the spirit into Christmas. I highly recommend both!!!
P.S. I'm off crutches because I was sick of them and couldn't stand them any longer. On to bigger better things:)

Happy Thanksgiving....
Thanksgiving was awesome. My whole family was there. We hadn't been together for Thanksgiving for years. We of course had great food, great laughter, and great company. All of our kids are so close in age that they have a blast. All the little boys had a sleep over at our house and they giggled til midnight. It was so cute! All the cousins are best friends which is so nice. We had dinner early afternoon and then we went to my dad's school gym. He's a principal and so we thought it would bring back memories of going to the gym when we were kids. When we grew up we spent half our life at the gym, but we would go for fhe and stuff as a family and just mess around. The kids had a blast and it brought back a lot of memories. Then on Friday, we went swimming, which is always great because it wears the kids out. Of course, being on crutches still, I was a spectator. Oh well. It was still great fun. I'm so blessed to have a great family and to have great relationships with everyone. I cherish all the time we spend together! (Sorry these pictures aren't in the correct order)

Happy Birthday Honey.....
My husband's birthday always falls around Thanksgiving. This year his mom was here for it too. The kids always think it's fun to make a cake and stuff for dad. We didn't do a whole lot, but it was still fun. His mom offered to make him supper, and I made his favorite cake--scratch carrot cake--yum! Here are 10 reasons why I love my dear husband:
1. He puts up with all my bad days.
2. He is an INCREDIBLE dad and husband!
3. He keeps me laughing!
4. He takes care of me with all my stupid health problems.
5. He's fun.
6. He's romantic.
7. He's always trying to make me and the family happy.
8. His family means the world to him.
9. The church is important to both of us.
10. Did I mention he's my best friend?!

I want to hear everyone's take on being private or not on the blogging world?! I kind of figure that people will get at you one way or another so whatever. BUT maybe I'm wrong? What does everyone else think? Let me know.

Relaxing....
So after a long night of trick or treating the girls were relaxing with a good movie--Diamond Castle Barbie. It actually has great music. Kiersten actually fell asleep on Erik's shoulder tonight, which never happens. She must have been really tired. So cute when kids fall asleep on you. I love it. The other pictures is a picture of my niece, Bailee. She is the cutest little stinker. I love her to death. She always gives me kisses and hugs. I love babies.

Halloween cont.....
Happy Halloween....
I love Halloween ( all the holidays really). Something about Trick or Treating with my kids is so much fun. It makes me happy. We carved pumpkins twice this year. Once I already blogged. The next one my dear cousins came over and helped with the kids and carved pumpkins with them while Erik was out of town. Thank you everyone. It was a blast. I love my cousins. They are so fun and so good with my kids. My kids love them. Then we had a church party earlier in the week, class parties, and trick or treating. For the last couple of years we've been going trick or treating with my brother(s) and their kids. My younger brothers kids are the same age as my kids so they always have a great time. It is just something for everyone to look forward to. This year my grandma was here also and my parents. It is always fun to be with family. We always eat good food before the kids have their sugar high. Then we head off to trick or treat. This year since I'm on crutches, my good husband put a lawn chair in the back of the truck and I rode back there so I could go with the kids. I felt like I was in a parade, but it was fun. Here are some halloween pictures of my sweet family who I love so much.
